SanDisk wants to replace flash with rewriteable 3-D memory Bernard Cole Santa Clara, Ca. – SanDisk Corp. is working on a rewriteable 3-D memory device that it thinks could replace today's flash memory for use in mobile and portable computing and communications devices. The company is developing the technology with its NAND flash partner, Toshiba Corp., looking to devise ''3-D diode memory arrays,'' which are based on a 4F2 architecture, and make uses of a switching element, which could be in the form of phase-change memory or resistive RAM (RRAM.
