MaxGate Inc. has released the UGate 3300 Cable/xDSL wireless broadband gateway for wired and wireless networks. Designed for small office and home office (SOHO) use, it allows small- to- mid-sized companies to network systems sharing a broadband Internet connection and printer over a LAN.

On the LAN side, it comes with either an 11Mbps, IEEE 802.11b wireless, or 10/100M Ethernet connection. Software support for the gateway includes Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS), which allows up to 253 users to share an Internet connection using domain names in lieu of IP addresses.

In addition, the built-in single-port print server enables users to share a single printer over the LAN. Firewall security against scripted security attacks and other intrusions is built in as a network address translation (NAT) service. An HTTP management website provides configuration, and IPSec, Internet Protocol Security, offers pass-through connectivity for telecommuters through virtual private networks, or VPNs. To support DSL connections, the Ugate 3300 uses PPPoE Point-to-Point Protocol over an Ethernet.

The UGate 3300 is platform-agnostic, fully compatible with Windows 95/98/NT/2000, Windows for Workgroups, MacOS 7.6.1 and above, Unix, and Linux, including systems with existing Netware and Lantastic network connections.

The UGate 3300 is available now at DataComm Warehouse catalogs, MicroCenter retail stores, and online via buy.com, Computers4Sure, Outpost.com, Warehouse.com, BuyUmax.com, Onvia.com, and Firstsource.com. The MaxGate UGate 3300 has a MSRP of $329.95.
