Silicon Wave Offers New Bluetooth Baseband IPBy Michael Foley Silicon Wave Inc. is offering its Bluetooth qualified Odyssey Baseband and Software as reusable IP through a newly formed IP licensing program. Silicon Wave also offers a Bluetooth qualified RadioModem, the SiW1502, which can be combine with the Odyssey Baseband IP for a complete reusable IP Bluetooth solution that customers can integrate into their own silicon. Through the use of fundamental design for reuse techniques, the Odyssey IP can be integrated into most major processor cores including Arm, MIPs, X86, and other leading cores. The Odyssey IP is a full-featured Bluetooth 1.1 compliant product with support for point-to-point, point-to-multi-point, master/slave switch, flow control, and all SCO and ACL data packet types. The solution also provides low power modes including sniff, hold and park, and transmit power control. The Odyssey Software is licensed as C-source and has been developed with very tight CPU resources, requiring only 12Kbytes RAM, 128Kbytes ROM, and less than 5 MIPS load on the host. Through the use of an OS adaptation layer, the Odyssey Software can be ported to a wide range of micro-controllers and associated RTOS such as WinCE, Embedded Linux, VxWorks, Palm, Micro-Itron, and others. The Odyssey Baseband Silicon IP is 100% digital, available as silicon proven easy to synthesize VHDL, and able to be interfaced to a variety of processor bus types. The VHDL is fully documented and comes with a complete suite of test benches and synthesis scripts for ease of integration. |
