Virata Adds EmWebXML Parser Software

Virata Corporation has added to its family of embedded web software tools with the eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) parser. The EmWebXML Parser software tool allows embedded system developers to build products and web-based applications that utilize XML data, improving network and equipment configurations.

With XML, service providers are able to implement new applications while reducing the total cost of ownership of their networks. For example, by utilizing EmWebXML Parser software, a wireless base station can remotely communicate with a configuration server to exchange XML-formatted configuration information, error messages, and usage information.

EmWebXML is part of Virata's standalone software product offerings and is fully compliant to XML 1.0 and HTTP 1.1. It is also optimized to reduce system and memory requirements -- including code size, stack space, and dynamic memory. By utilizing a small footprint, embedded system developers can focus on building smart devices without having to overload them with expensive memory and processor chips.

In addition, EmWebXML enables developers to create network environments that allow different products from various manufacturers to communicate via XML. As a result, network administrators have powerful and flexible technology to monitor and control their networks.
