PictureIQ Transforms Web GraphicsBy Susan Hospod PictureIQ has released a high performance server appliance, the PictureIQ TransForce, to aid content creators and service providers by streamlining the process of preparing and delivering Internet images to Web-enabled devices. TransForce, which uses Adobe Photoshop, automates labor-intensive Web graphics production tasks, thereby delivering images for PDAs, mobile phones, PC's, WebTV, and dialup and broadband connections more expediently. TransForce, a scalable server appliance, can be configured to complement existing networks' content management and digital asset management systems and to automate image workflows to deliver images within an enterprise to an external site. TransForse also offers on-the-fly Web graphics rendering capability to eliminate repetitive image population within an enterprise's database, storage, and backup systems. TransForce's combination of a high-performance rendering engine and caching system provides improved reliability and performance of Website infrastructure that will allow enterprises to lower costs. TransForce comes network-enabled and pre-configured for image content delivery and management without a scripting or programming language. The user simply points and clicks to establish preparation and delivery parameters. It even comes pre-configured with rules for the most common graphics conversion requirements. In addition these rules are easily modified to provide task specific parameters without starting from scratch. TransForce is powered by Intel's Pentium III processor and runs on embedded Linux OS. It also comes with a high-performance cache, IGM SDRAM, and dual 9GB 7,200 rpm SCSI hard drives. |
