TASKING has developed a toolsuite for the Parthus MediaStream DSP core. The TASKING's Parthus MediaStream Tool Suite V1.1 enables developers to create multimedia appliances, such as portable Internet audio players and servers.

Specifically geared towards audio-decoding applications, TASKING's toolsuite is an effective development environment to manage both the size and code complexity found in media rich applications. The toolsuite includes TASKING's C/C++ compiler and debugger with memory management features specific to the MediaStream architecture.

The development environment is tuned to take advantage of the performance of DSP capabilities within the Parthus MediaStream DSP core. Features such as the use of C language extensions for fractional datatypes, circular and bit-reversed addressing, memory space qualifiers, and other DSP-related data structures and algorithms, are built into TASKING's environment. Through variable usage analysis, loop recognition, automatic stack overflow checking, and in-line expansion of predefined functions, developers can address the code density and performance needs of their DSP code. The assembler automatically reorders MediaStream instructions to avoid pipeline hazards and maximize parallel execution.

The graphical code debugger includes symbol browsing, identification of cross-references, variable watching and functional expression, and parameters evaluation in MediaStream's interactive editor.

The TASKING MediaStream Tool Suite, V1.1 is available now on Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and SUN Solaris platform. Pricing starts at $5,380. A demo version can be downloaded from the TASKING Website.
