Internet Billboards on the Go

Civia Media Group is launching a network of interactive media terminals that combine broadcast and broadband technologies to deliver highly targeted news and lifestyle information to high traffic public places. Civia will broadcast to a network of Civia Media Terminals (CMTs) that employ 42-inch touch-screen displays that people can interact with to get updated news, local traffic and weather, and building and neighborhood information for tenants and visitors.

The premise behind Civia's interactive terminal is that many crowded public spaces serve as little more than walkways that could be used in more meaningful ways. Commercial real-estate owners estimate that most tenants pass through building lobbies six times per day, presenting significant interaction and advertising opportunities.

CMTs feature a 42-inch flat-panel display embedded in an 8 foot-tall enclosure. The display features four distinct viewing zones, allowing distant passers-by to scan headlines, stocks, weather, and traffic cameras, while those who venture closer can use touch screens to learn about local businesses, sports teams, movies, or events and attractions. In conjunction with the large, high definition display, it comes with two high fidelity speakers. During breaking news situations, the CMT's main viewing zone will broadcast news content from Civia's local TV station partners.

The media terminal can also deliver high-end multimedia broadcasts and entertainment. Internet connectivity is through a broadband connection.
