SonicWALL Scales Internet Security Obstacles

SonicWALL's new line of Internet security appliances for large enterprises and data center markets, the SonicWALL GX Series, integrates ICSA certified firewall and VPN functionality, offers flexible configuration options, and scales to gigabit speeds. The SonicWALL GX Series is a gigabit security system designed for large enterprise and Internet data center applications, such as high capacity Web sites, server farms, and large hub-and-spoke VPN deployments.

"While there is strong demand for high performance security systems in the enterprise and data center markets, cost and complexity have limited their deployment," said Sreekanth Ravi, president and chief executive officer of SonicWALL. High speed LAN and WAN connections are driving the need for high performance security systems in Internet data centers and large enterprises.

All models in the SonicWALL GX Series attempt to answer these needs by providing common, scalable chasses, enabling systems to be upgraded with additional interfaces, different interface types, and higher performance. These systems allow enterprise and data center customers to scale their security solutions over time as their bandwidth needs grow.

SonicWALL GX Series features:

• Scalability to support gigabit throughput--Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet interface options and up to 20 Fast Ethernet interfaces.
• High availability via failover support and redundant, hot swappable power supplies.
• SonicWALL's Global Management System software and additional management options, including Web-based (HTTP), simple network management protocol (SNMP), and command line interface (CLI).
• Access to SonicWALL's security services, including vulnerability scanning, strong authentication using public key infrastructure (PKI), anti-virus (AV), and content filtering (CFL).

SonicWALL GX250 features:

• Firewall throughput of 100 Mbps. >LI>Triple-DES (3DES) IPSec VPN throughput of 100 Mbps.
• Up to 5,000 simultaneous VPN tunnels.
• Up to 250,000 simultaneous connections.
• Three Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-TX interfaces (expandable up to 20).
• Upgradeable to GX650.

SonicWALL GX650 features:

• Firewall throughput up to 1 Gbps.
• Triple-DES (3DES) VPN throughput up to 260 Mbps.
• Up to 10,000 simultaneous VPN tunnels.
• Up to 500,000 simultaneous connections.
• Up to three Gigabit Ethernet 1000Base-SX or 1000Base-T interfaces.

The SonicWALL GX650 and GX250 will be available in June of 2001 with US list pricing starting at $14,995.
