AppForge Crosses the Embedded WIndows/Palm OS Line

With the AppForge Software Development Kit 2.0 developers can cross-target application code written using Microsoft (MSFT) Visual Studio to both embedded Window and Palm devices.

AppForge showed a Visual Basic Project that included ActiveX controls running on both platforms. The application shared a single code base. ActiveX controls created with the AppForge 2.0 SDK ran on both platform operating systems.

AppForge 2.0 bridges both Visual Basic and Visual C++ developers to Palm OS platforms. It is targeted towards IT departments and developers hoping to manage cross-platform support for applications by simplifying code maintenance and development.

AppForge Professional Edition 2.0 comes in three varieties:

• Professional Edition for Palm OS ($699)
• Professional Edition for Pocket PC ($899)
• Professional Edition for Palm and Pocket PC ($1,299)
• Upgrade ($299) for 30 days following the software release.

AppForge 2.0 will be available in August 2001.
