Fujitsu PC Corporation is beefing up its line of Web tablet devices by offering them with the new Windows CE Handheld PC 2000 (H/PC 2000) operating system. The Pen Centra 200 is made for mobile applications and comes with a display that can be used outdoors.

Pen Centra has incorporated H/PC 2000 to enhance its features. The software contains a thin client application that provides access to any desktop application running on a Windows server using Terminal Services. The OS also includes Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0-compatible browser, which provides users with greater Internet content and display functionality when viewed on the PenCentra's VGA screen.

The PenCentra 200 is designed for mobile workers in field applications such as field service, inspections, manufacturing, distribution, and market research. The Web tablet weighs two pounds and measures 8.9 inches (length) by 6.5 inches (width) by 1.3 inches (height). It is powered by a 129MHz Toshiba TX3922 MIPS RISC processor, 32MB standard RAM (upgradeable to 64MB), and 16MB of non-volatile flash memory for user storage. The 8 inch diagonal display is available in two versions: a frontlit color reflective SSTN VGA display with a liquid filled digitizer for a sharp display in sunlight, or a bright, backlit color transmissive DSTN VGA display for indoor needs.

The company's pen tablet computers are available via its value-added reseller and system integrator channels. The device comes with a standard three-year limited warranty.
