Atmel Corporation's AT75C220 Smart Internet Appliance Processor (SIAP-E) incorporates a dual-MAC Ethernet port plus bridge that enables a telephone to be inserted into an Ethernet LAN. The architecture is ideal for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and other Internet appliance designs.

Internet appliances that are linked to an Ethernet LAN can bebuilt around the on-board ARM7TDMI microcontroller core. The AT75C220 also features an additional caller-side OakDSPCore with dedicated memory, dimensioned for the integration of all telephony functions.

Peripherals, such as an interrupt controller and peripheral data controller, enable the real-time performance of the AT75C220 multi-core processor.

The part is made using Atmel's submicron CMOS fabrication technology. A version of the Linux operating system, as well as a comprehensive library of fully-qualified application software modules, are provided with a development board and comprehensive set of Windows-based development tools.

Application developers can begin work on top-level application software, speeding design time and time to market. This complete hardware/software solution reduces design risk.
