ACCESS Stacks on the BluetoothBy ACCESS Co.'s AVE-Blue, a wireless communication protocol stack for embedded information appliances based on the Bluetooth version 1.1 specification, can integrate with ACCESS' NetFront browser to create a wireless network for devices such as PDAs, car navigation systems, and digital cameras. By using the OBEX (Object Exchange) application protocol, the wireless network can exchange NetFront browser data, such as address books, bookmarks, and email. AVE-Blue's development environment is based on Visual C++, so engineers can speed new applications to market by emulating the environment on a PC. Moreover, the test work required to use the official Bluetooth logo is simplified with the TCI test control interface. AVE-Blue further speeds Bluetooth application development with its intelligible APIs, sample applications for each profile, and configuration features for selective profile implementations. AVE-Blue is designed to integrate with the ACCESS component-ware family, including ACCESS' AVE-TCP v6.0, an embedded TCP/IP protocol stack that supports the IP v6 standard, so it can be easily integrated into devices that currently use the NetFront browser. The AVE-PPP serial communication protocol is tightly connected to the AVE-Blue serial port profile through the 'BTCOMM' API. AVE-Blue offers the following functions and features:
An early access version corresponding to Bluetooth v1.0B+CE has already been released. AVE-Blue v1.1, corresponding to Bluetooth v1.1, will start shipping in August in Japan and in 2002 in the US. ACCESS intends to get Bluetooth logo certification by the fourth quarter of 2001. |
