Web-Enabled Systems DebuggedBy Michael Foley Applied Microsystems Corp. has expanded its support for developers using VxWorks. Applied's CodeTEST and NetROM products have been integrated to form a communications gateway for developers analyzing and debugging software code in VxWorks-based embedded systems. This combination also helps developers debug and trace systems remotely on a LAN or the Internet. This combined tool set enables a host-to-target networked communications channel for developers whose systems do not have a useable communications port for debug and development. With Applied's tool set, users can debug and analyze high-end embedded systems over a high-speed communications channel while maintaining connection to the target throughout the entire development process. CodeTEST offers software test and analysis methods for each stage of software development. NetROM accelerates the development cycle by linking the software analysis and debug tools via Ethernet connections and functioning as a communications gateway. The high-speed connection accelerates software development and provides for remote debugging in initial installations and beta units. NetROM functionality connects target systems to Ethernet networks using no target resources. As a communications gateway, NetROM provides a full TCP/IP protocol stack and multi-tasking operating system, which cleanly integrates a target to the Ethernet via its ROM sockets. NetROM and CodeTEST with virtual Ethernet integration for VxWorks is available immediately through Wind River and Applied Microsystems. |
