In a day and age where cell phones don't just make calls, manufacturers are always pushing the envelope to deliver more and more to consumers, whether they want more or not. With a 360-degree speakerphone, voice recognition/dialing, PIM functionality, and Bluetooth capabilities, the Timeport 270c from Motorola is one device that keeps on pushing.

Offered by ALLTEL, a wireless communications provider, the Timeport 270c handset uses the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) standard to deliver the wireless service essential to a mobile phone. The Timeport combines specially designed features for the business consumer with a completely redesigned user interface (UI) developed by Motorola specifically to maximize the advantages of both the new and standard offerings.

These offerings include:

  • An integrated two-way hands-free speakerphone that uses new Motorola-patented technology to increase the audio output of the Timeport 270c, providing the speakerphone with a rich, full, robust sound and crystal-clear communication, comparable to a landline speakerphone.

  • Voice-activated dialing and function control, allowing users to save time by utilizing programmable voice commands to dial a matched number or activate a menu shortcut.

  • Personal Information Management (PIM) functionality that allows users to recall up to 400 numbers from the phone book, access the multiview calendar for schedule updates, and receive alarm alerts to remind them about upcoming engagements.

The Bluetooth Smart Module makes this Motorola's first Bluetooth-capable phone, which, when combined with the optional Bluetooth Connectivity Kit (Bluetooth Smart Module accessory, Bluetooth PC card, and Bluetooth neighborhood software), completes the package of initial Bluetooth technology solutions.

Motorola's threefold Bluetooth offering provides consumers with the ability to use the phone as a wireless modem and connect to the Internet using a PC, automatically synchronize calendar and contact information between a PC and the phone, and share information between up to seven other Bluetooth devices -- all wirelessly.

A unique 4-Way Navigation Key with "joystick" functionality lets users journey through the features of the phone with ease. The navigation key explores the phone's comprehensive menus and executes text editing, number editing, phonebook application, and calendar updating.

These features are combined with a large graphical display that allows users to view up to six lines of text and experience enhanced presentation of Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Internet content, Short Message Service (SMS), voice note voice recorder, iTAP predictive text entry, Starfish TrueSync software, and 32 alert tones.
