Lanner Electronics, Inc. has got the hardware, now they are looking for OEMs with software. Lanner is producing its FW500 as a hardware platform for manufacturers to use as a security appliance. Lanner provides the IO drivers for the FW500, which is built as a firewall for remote and branch offices. The security appliance can also provide VPN or anti-virus functionality.

The FW-500 is dedicated hardware developed for software houses to port their embedded firewall applications to. It provides clear configuration options, protecting systems from all attacks. It is able to track all potential and actual threats and to alert users to serious attacks, as well as unauthorized entry to the PC. FW-500 is an ideal device for software firms, system integrators, and end-users. It includes internal, external, and DMZ network segment support. The chassis is made of aluminum, and drivers are included that support popular and embedded OSs. The motherboard is a compact at 203 x 146 mm and is sold alone for embedded applications.

  • 32MB SD RAM on-board (option 64M) system memory
  • Disk One Sockets for DiskOnChip, support for up to 144MB flash memory
  • Realtek RTL8139C (support 10/100 Base-T interface) Ethernet controller
  • Three Auto-Sensing 10/100 Base-T RJ-45 Port (support internal LAN, external WAN and DMZ connection) networking connection
  • One COM port interface
  • Three Networking Connection Act/Link LED indicators (Six LED indicators)
  • One Power-on indicator, One Status Indicator
  • 256KB Award Licensed BIOS
  • Universal power supply
  • 0șC ~ 60șC operating temperature
