WIDCOMM and Infineon Offer Bluetooth One-Stop Shopping

WIDCOMM, Inc., and Infineon Technologies are releasing a turnkey Bluetooth system solution targeting portable computers, handheld devices, cellular telephones, and wireless networking applications.

The two companies have integrated WIDCOMM's BTW software and Infineon's BlueMoon chipset to create a Bluetooth V1.1-compliant development kit targeting OEMs, as well as contract manufacturers. Infineon Technologies will provide its customers with development kits that will include the Infineon Blue-System Board, the Infineon Bluetooth evaluation and development board, and a CD-ROM of WIDCOMM's BTW software.

WIDCOMM's BTW provides Bluetooth software support for Microsoft Windows environments. It supports 10 Bluetooth profiles and operates with Windows CE, 98SE, Windows Me, and Windows 2000. BTW provides the necessary software layers and application interface for Bluetooth communications.

The Infineon BlueMoon family of products includes the Bluetooth V1.1-qualified BlueMoon I solution, supporting 920kBaud over UART, targeted at Bluetooth modules and adapters, as well as the BlueMoon Multimedia with integrated USB interface and software API (Application Programmers Interface). The BlueMoon Single is for size sensitive products like cellular phones and PDAs.
