Efficient Networks Connects with ADSL IADBy Siemen's Efficient Networks' four-port Next Generation Integrated Access Device (NG-IAD) connects through ADSL to offer service providers Voice over DSL (VoDSL) capabilities for home offices and small businesses. Efficient Networks, Inc., is a subsidiary of Siemens Corp. Its NG-IAD, the 7461, is designed for small businesses, branch offices, and home offices. It allows service providers to deliver Voice over DSL services to their ADSL customers through its service creation engine. The 7461 differentiates itself by including a four-port Ethernet hub. In addition, the device provides effective emergency access to any connected telephone. Other similar products make only a single telephone available if the ADSL link fails. The 7461 also provides data disaster recovery capabilities by supporting redundant connections through secondary routers or external modems. Another key benefit of Efficient Networks' 7461 is its support for virtual private networks (VPNs) that remote business users rely on for secure access to corporate networks. End users and service providers will also appreciate the fact that the device is self-installable, enabling rapid implementation and minimizing the need for installation and configuration support.
