Broadcom qualifies BCM2002 radio chip for Bluetooth, architected to integrate radio capabilities for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and third generation (3G) wireless phones. The chip works in conjunction with QUALCOMM CDMA QCT Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipsets.

The Broadcom BCM2002, an all-CMOS radio transceiver, is a member of Broadcom's Blutonium family of Bluetooth solutions. The BCM2002 offers strong performance in high-interference environments, such as cell phones and laptop computers.

Broadcom's BCM2002 radio chip also works in conjunction with the Bluetooth baseband and protocol stack to provide full Bluetooth functionality for wireless devices. By offering a Bluetooth radio solution that works in coordination with a fully embedded Bluetooth baseband, Broadcom is enabling the lowest added bill of materials (BOM) cost for a Bluetooth solution.

Broadcom claims the BCM2002 provides the following advantanges:

  • Strong spurious emissions performance
  • Minimized interference with mobil phone transmissions
  • Exceptional blocking performance
  • Elimination of unwanted radio frequencies due to linear design
  • RF filtering to receive strong Bluetooth signals
  • Optimized cell phone integration
  • Fractional-N frequency generation
  • Operation on a number of reference frequencies.

The BCM2002 is offered in multiple packaging options, including a chip scale package. The Bluetooth version 1.1-qualified radio is currently available in production quantities. It is also available as a module through selected module companies.
