Lantronix extended its Console Management product line with the introduction of its Secure Console Servers. Secure Console Servers provide network management personnel with an integrated solution for accessing information in real-time and managing remote equipment.

The new SCS1600 and SCS3200 Secure Console Servers come equipped with 16 or 32 high-speed serial ports through which users can instantly access data and voice communications equipment, such as hubs, routers, switches, and telecommunication systems. The Secure Console Server products help network management personnel reduce system downtime and ensure performance through real-time monitoring and management of equipment. Both products provide remote access to data and voice communications equipment, either through or outside of the network. The enhanced security features of the SCS1600 and SCS3200 enable access security levels to be established based upon type of equipment, location of equipment, or user permission levels.

Secure Console Servers attach to the consoles or serial ports of equipment to provide management over the network. The devices can be managed via Telnet through the console servers. Connectivity can also be achieved through a backup modem connection in case the network is down. Secure Console Servers are built to protect equipment from unauthorized users through features like user authentication/accountability and Secure Shell (SSH) encryption.
