Lantronix's UPnP Early Adopters' Kit will speed the implementation of UPnP technology into almost any device, including lighting control devices, security and access control appliances, and HVAC systems.

"Our UPnP Early Adopters' Kit allows manufacturers to focus on the development of their products instead of worrying about how they are going to make their devices UPnP-enabled," said Anthony Macciola, vice president of marketing, Lantronix.

UPnP protocols were established to facilitate the development of easily connected devices and to simplify the installation of devices in home and corporate networks. Because they are based on open industry standards, Lantronix Device Servers make excellent platforms to quickly and easily UPnP-enable devices. By implementing a Device Server that is running UPnP protocols, manufacturers can make products that automatically connect and work for customers behind the scenes. This helps manufacturers improve customer service and reduce support cost by making it very easy for customers to configure and install their products onto a network.

In addition to making it simple for manufacturers to add UPnP capabilities to their products, Device Servers provide network connectivity to almost any device, appliance, or equipment, allowing for real-time access to information and remote management.

The UPnP Early Adopters' Kit contains a UDS-10 Device Server, operating software, development tools, and application examples. The software utilities that come with the UPnP Early Adopters' Kit are XML / HTML configuration and Web management tools, firmware, and sample C source code with supporting documentation.

The UPnP Early Adopters' Kit is free for all UPnP Forum members. Manufacturers that are not members of the UPnP Forum can still participate in the program by either joining the UPnP Form at www.upnp.org or by purchasing a UDS-10 Device Server.
