Pioneer shipped its latest digital set-top box, Voyager 3000, to long-time partner, Time Warner Cable, and various MSOs across the country. . Voyager 3000 expands service capabilities by offering up to 1,999 channels, and it is designed with a built-in, real-time reverse path transmitter. As a result, Pioneer's new set-top enables a range of two-way applications, including video-on-demand, data-on-demand, network gaming, Web browsing, direct-purchase merchandising, and location information services, which enhance customers' entertainment experiences and increase revenues for cable operators by enabling them to provide the latest technology.

Powered by Broadcom's single chip MPEG processor and a multifunction CPU, Voyager 3000 offers dedicated processing power for enhanced graphics and session-based applications. The Voyager 3000 also provides increased memory with 16 MB RAM with a 32 MB factory option and 4 MB flash ROM with an 8 MB option.

When combined with Pioneer's latest edition of Passport 3.0 software, Voyager 3000 supplies the latest advances in digital cable set-top technology and provides viewers with the ability to navigate the vast possibilities of programming and applications.

“The Voyager 3000 is a powerful system designed to enhance a viewer's television experience,'” said Dan Ward, director of marketing for Pioneer, cable and communications, “because it has the potential of enabled defacto standards and can support infrared, USB, serial port and IEEE 1394 communications.”
