Windows XP Embedded Meets Thin Client ComputingBy Wyse Technology's latest Winterm thin-client family member, introduced at the Microsoft Windows Embedded Developers Conference, is carrying Windows XP Embedded to the thin-client market. The Wyse Winterm 9440XL Windows Custom-Application Terminal (WinCAT) will feature expanded peripheral support and multimedia capabilities, as well as local application execution. Additionally, the Winterm 9440XL will further increase security and help drive down rising computing costs through the inclusion of Wyse's Rapport management software. "Wyse is combining the benefits of Windows XP Embedded with the security, manageability, and affordability delivered by thin clients, offering greater desktop value to customers at a time when the need to protect information and reduce costs is growing exponentially," said Brad Rowland, director of product management for Wyse Technology. The Winterm 9440XL will be based on the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded operating system, offering organizations the improved productivity, security, and longevity of the thin client approach to desktop and IT management. The Winterm 9440XL will provide support for more than 9,000 peripherals, as well as local application execution, robust multimedia capabilities, and local Internet Explorer 6.0 browsing. Easy to use and manage, the Winterm 9440XL will be available in the first quarter of 2002. Link: |
