ION Networks Adds VPN Security

ION Secure 5000 Series from ION Networks is an infrastructure security appliance that supports advanced virtual private network (VPN) routing services. Organizations can now secure a wide range of dispersed critical infrastructure elements, such as firewalls, servers, routers, LAN switches, PBXs, and multiplexers, while giving access to operators and administrators through cost-effective VPN connectivity.

The ION Secure 5000 Series supports advanced security features and combines console, alarm, sensor, and power management functions available with the ION Secure 3000 Series, while adding high-speed routing and four key VPN components: tunneling, data encryption, firewall, and dynamic IP addressing. As a result, the new family of security appliances dramatically reduces the cost and complexity associated with deploying numerous single-purpose devices.

Now in beta testing, the ION Secure 5000 Series will commence first customer shipments (FCS) by February 2002.
