Filanet Corporation has upgraded its InterJak Internet service appliance with two new service keys -- a full email service solution and intrusion detection. These keys are now available for service providers to deliver remotely to their small office and telecommuter customers. In addition to the new service keys, Filanet has expanded the InterJak by adding WAN backup support, RADIUS client support, and firewall enhancements.

The InterJak Internet service appliance is a platform that allows small and remote offices to set up networks to share Internet access. By activating software keys, service providers can remotely enable Internet services such as VPN and content filtering. Service providers remotely and securely manage these services to alleviate the IT burden for small offices that cannot afford an onsite IT administrator.

Filanet has added an email service key and intrusion detection key. The email key will provide small offices with a full service email server that can fetch mail from other mail servers, consolidate email accounts, and block questionable file types and unwanted emails. In addition, Filanet's new intrusion detection key scans for and reports on network attacks.

Following are specifics on the InterJak's new features:

Email server -- Full Message Transportation Agent (MTA) and fetchmail server supporting up to 25 concurrent users and 64 email accounts; SMTP, POP3, and IMAP support; Web GUI configuration; spam rejection; mailing lists; mail redirection; out-of-office support; and mail queuing.

Intrusion detection -- Real time attack recognition with packet sniffer technology that detects SYN attacks, IP spoof attacks in addition to suspicious packet attacks such as DoS, ICMP, oversized and fragmented headers, and password guessing attacks. All suspected attacks are reported on a Web page and with system log, email messages, and SNMP traps.

WAN backup -- Automatic failover to a backup WAN connection when the primary connection fails; subsequent fallback to the primary link when it becomes available. If a WAN link or VPN tunnel fails, the InterJak platform can automatically failover to a dial-up or alternate WAN connection, maintaining data integrity and security.

RADIUS client support -- Authentication of administrator and user access via RADIUS servers. Remote network administrators or remote users can access the InterJak (and therefore their networks) securely using RADIUS authentication servers such as Secure Computing's Secure Computing's SafeWord PremierAccess.

Firewall enhancements -- Support for H.323 real time voice applications ensures stateful firewall protection while opening and closing ports for Microsoft Netmeeting.

The InterJak is available immediately from Filanet with a base price of $645. The email server key is $300.
