Sensory released the new SC-6x line of speech synthesis chips, targeting toy and consumer electronics requiring high quality speech output.

The new Sensory ICs represent an expansion from their existing speech recognition chips (the RSC series IC's) into a low cost line of speech output chips. The new line is synergistic to Sensory's existing chips.

The SC-6x line includes the SC-601, SC-604, SC-605, SC-614, and the SC-691, and utilize Sensory's CX and MX speech compression technologies and a proprietary midi-like music synthesis technology. The speech compression can allow for as much as 37 minutes of sound on-chip or over 9 hrs with external memory. The line comes as a direct result of Sensory's earlier announced alliance with Texas Instruments.

The SC-6x chips include a 12.32 MIP general-purpose microcontroller with versions allowing from 16 to 64 pins of I/O, all at prices well under $2.00 in production volumes. The products are available for immediate sampling or production orders.
