WebTech Wireless released the commercial version of its WebTech Connector i1000, a ruggedized wireless modem for the GSM/GPRS network. The WebTech Connector i1000 for GSM/GPRS provides high-speed wireless connectivity for laptops, PDAs, peripheral devices (printers, barcode readers, etc.), and dispatch systems.

"The WebTech Connector i1000 provides mobile professionals and fleets with a fast, always-on connection to new GPRS networks," stated Cameron Fraser, chief technical officer of WebTech Wireless. "The i1000 is really the brainchild of wireless carriers and consultants who came to us requiring stable GPRS connectivity for their customers in the field. WebTech is the only company globally with a commercially tested and deployed stand-alone modem for GPRS networks."

The WebTech Connector i1000 provides connectivity between 30 and 56 Kbps and is anticipated to reach speeds of 115 Kbps. The network speed of GPRS provides a more user-friendly experience for subscribers with reliable wireless access to applications such as email, Internet browsing, back-office applications, Intranets/Extranets and other applications.

The WebTech Connector i1000 is available immediately and can be upgraded with additional GPS or Telematics capabilities.
