Proxim is bringing Apple Macs together wirelessly using 802.11b USB and 10 Mb HomeRF wireless networking technology. The new Skyline 802.11b USB Adapter for the Mac connects Mac desktop computers to an 802.11b wireless network. This USB Adapter works well with iMacs and other desktop computers that do not include built-in Airport capability. Proxim's Skyline 802.11b products have speeds up to 11 Mbps and provide a cost effective and easy way for schools and small businesses to deploy a wireless network.

Proxim will demonstrate these new 802.11a 100 Mbps wireless networking packages at Macworld. Macintosh-compatible versions of Proxim's Skyline and Harmony 802.11a product lines are due to ship this spring. These products are fully compliant with the IEEE 802.11a standard for speeds up to 54 Mbps and feature Proxim's 2X mode, which enables connection speeds up to 108 Mbps. These high-speed wireless solutions are perfect for sharing large files, such as presentations and graphics, utilizing high-quality multimedia content, and collaborating over a wireless network at wired network speeds.

The Skyline 802.11b USB Adapter is available for a street price of $149. The Symphony HomeRF PC Card, USB Adapter, and Base Station are available for $99, $99, and $199, respectively.
