Borland Unveils JBuilder MobileSet 2 for J2MEBy Borland Software Corporation announced the immediate availability of Borland JBuilder(MobileSet 2.0 for rapid development of mobile and wireless applications for the Java 2 Platform, Mobile Edition (J2ME). Integrated with Borland JBuilder 6, MobileSet 2.0 is a J2ME-compliant environment that supports software development in Java-enabled devices. In addition to new samples and tutorials, the new version of JBuilder MobileSet includes the following new features: - Over the Air (OTA) provisioning -- Using the OTA Manager in JBuilder MobileSet, mobile application developers can upload files to an FTP server, and download, install, and remove installed MIDlet Suites. - Enhanced vendor device support -- JBuilder MobileSet now installs and fully integrates the SunJ2ME Wireless Toolkit 1.0.3, and continues support for the Nokia Developer's Suite for J2ME and the Siemens Mobility Toolkit (SMTK). -Enhanced MIDP (Mobile Information Device Profile) Designer -- The improved designer allows developers to create event-handling code for interface elements and visually work with images. JBuilder MobileSet 2.0 can be used with the free JBuilder 6 Personal, but requires purchase of JBuilder 6 Enterprise or JBuilder 6 Professional for commercial application development. JBuilder MobileSet 2.0 is a J2ME platform compliant environment, fully integrated with Borland JBuilder, to support software development in Java-enabled devices. JBuilder MobileSet is an add-on to JBuilder, the market leading Java development environment, that supports the development of J2ME applications compliant with Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) targeted at mobile phones and PDAs. Together, JBuilder and JBuilder MobileSet include visual design tools for creating mobile applications, device emulation and debugging, as well as all of the standard features offered with JBuilder.
