WideRay's On-location data services powered by the Jack mobile caching server platform allow for the download of comprehensive show guide, submit evaluations, request more information from exhibitors and even vote for the top new products at shows and events. Designed for use by Palm Powered handheld devices. The platform was recently unveiled at PalmSource.

PalmSource provides a unique forum to share visions on industry trends, discuss innovation and preview new technologies that demonstrate the flexibility of the Palm OS platform. WideRay's platform allowed for on-location data services with Palm Powered devices.

WideRay's Jack mobile caching server is a compact device that beams on-location content and applications to handhelds such as Palm handhelds or Compaq iPaqs. The Jack supports multiple simultaneous handheld users and eliminates the need for on-site configuration. At PalmSource, WideRay unveiled the latest class of software functionality that allows developers to implement two-way on location data services.

WideRay's platform can be integrated with third party applications to expand uses of the system. For example, MobileForms, a software product developed by Perseus Development Corporation that allows web-based surveys to be deployed on handhelds has been seamlessly integrated into WideRay's interface at PalmSource, allowing attendees to download surveys, fill out results and upload data back to a Jack.

Approximately 20 Jack mobile caching servers were deployed at PalmSource throughout the San Jose Convention Center. These servers distributed general show information such as the conference agenda and surveys as well as to collect data from users who opt to submit results.

Jacks are also the lead retrieval platform selected by the event organizers and are incorporated into many exhibitor booths. These exhibitors can distribute product literature, or their own Palm OS applications, and can collect contact information from attendees.
