Lynuxworks ARMs Its BlueCat Linux OSBy Bernard Cole San Jose, Ca. -- Continuing its move away from dependence on embedded applications in industrial, aerospace and telecom infrastructure markets, Lynuxworks Inc. has just ported its BlueCat 4.0 Linux operating system to the new ARM920T processor. Available with its VisualLynux Integrated Development Environment (IDE), the new Linux release is targeted at developers doing applications on the processor aimed at hand-held handheld iAppliance devices, network computers, smart phones and other processor-intensive applications. This new BlueCat distribution is based on the 2.5 Linux kernel, while its IDE is built around and is an extension of Microsoft Visual Studio, for Windows-hosted development. The BlueCat development environment for the ARM920T is available now as part of a standard bundle from LynuxWorks. Bundled BlueCat solutions start at $2,699.
