Hitachi's New PDA Extends to the Enterprise

Hitachi, Ltd. launched a new PDA product targeting the enterprise business customer. The NPD-10JWL integrates wireless networking into the product so that the business user can natively interact with their network infrastructure. The new device is based on Windows CE .NET and Intel's PXA250 processor (Intel Xscale microarchitecture).

Hitachi's NPD-10JWL will be equipped with built-in 802.11b wireless LAN. Other interfaces include:

  • MultiMediaCard / SD card slot
  • USB Connecter
  • Stereo Head phone and mic jack
  • TypeII PC card slot (Optional)
  • TypeII CF card slot (Optional)

The communicator will have 32MB of memory to run on board applications such as Internet Explorer 5.5, Windows Media Player, Inbox mail, Windows Messenger, Picture Viewer, Memo Pad, PIM software, Clock, and Calculator.

Hitachi will begin selling the new device at the end of April 2002 in the Japan market.
