Cermetek Dials Into the Internet

Cermetek Microelectronics released its new miniature Internet-enabled modem. The modem is developed to facilitate embedded Internet connectivity applications is designed to be installed on a printed circuit board. The CH2124 can be used for both sending and receiving e-mails. OEMs can use the CH2124 to embed basic e-mail communications and data transfer capability into products.

The CH2124 is targeting home medical monitoring systems, alarm /alerts, remote diagnostic, data logging and energy monitor and management applications. The CH2124 is a 2400 bps modem platform combined with web connection firmware. It can also be used in conventional data transmission or control applications. The device measures 1.95" L x 1.40" W x 0.54" H.

The CH2124 Internet Appliance Modem is configured through built-in AT commands which perform:

  • Dial-up algorithms to connect directly to a designated Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • User ID and password verification.
  • Full Support for TCP/IP, PPP, SMTP and POP3 Internet protocols.
  • Automatic e-mail Message Alert transmissions sent to a specified recipient address.

The CH2124 Internet Appliance Modem is currently available with a price of $39.95 in 1000 piece lots. The CH2124EVAL Engineering Evaluation Kit is $159.95.
