Connective Solutions is tightening up network security with their new Network Security appliance. DigitalSentinel is a security appliance designed for small to mid-size computer networks of 5 to 500 PCs. DigitalSentinel provides firewall protection and Virtual Private Networking. Other security features include anti-virus protection, anti-spam filtering, and content filter.

DigitalSentinel's firewall provides protection from attacks including SYN attack, ICMP flood, Port Scan, and others; combined with Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Address Translation (PAT) to hide internal, non-routable IP addresses, Dynamic Host Control Protocols (DHCP), and PPPoE.

The DigitalSentinel includes an integrated, full-featured VPN solution supporting site-to-site and remote-access VPN applications. Services include:

  • VPNC tested compatibility with other IPSec certified devices
  • 3DES, DES and AES encryption using digital certificates (PKI X.509), IKE auto-key, or manual key
  • SHA-1 and MD5 strong authentication

The DigitalSentinel utilizes McAfee anti-virus scanning software which scans for viruses and other malicious code. DigitalSentinel scans all inbound and outbound e-mail traffic passing through the e-mail gateway. The DigitalSentinel is configurable to automatically cleans and quarantines a file, immediately alerts the sender, recipient and system administrators upon detection of a virus.
