Sony Adds a New Twist To CLIEsBy Michael Foley Sony has tailored their new CLIE PDAs as entertainment devices for the mass consumer market. The new CLIE PEG-NR70V and PEG-NR70 handhelds also have a unique rotating color LCD screen.The handhelds combine entertainment features such as a digital camera and MP3 player into a sleek new design. The CLIE PDAs run on a Dragonball Super VZ (66MHz) processor and the PalmOS. They come with 16 MB of DRAM and inlcude a built-in keyboard, virtual Graffiti and an on-screen keyboard. Both models feature the Jog Dial navigator with a back button for single-handed operation. The LCD provides 320 x 480 pixel resolution with more than 65,000 colors. The CLIE PEG-NR70V features an integrated digital camera. The camera lens rotates 300 degrees to enable multiple shooting angles. Images can be saved directly to the internal memory or to a Memory Stick media card in three digital image sizes (320 x 240, 160 x 120, or 88 x 88 pixel resolutions). Both new handhelds feature an integrated digital audio player and come supplied with an in-line remote controller and earbud headphones. Both PDAs come standard with alithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery. Two other new energy options are available; the PEGA-BC10 battery adapter and the PEGA-DC10 car battery adapter. The CLIE PEG-NR70V will be available in the beginning of May for about $600. The CLIE PEG-NR70 model will ship in the beginning of May for about $500. Link: |
