Cyclades Corp. announced the general availability of its NL4000 Remote Access Server. The NL4000 allows Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and companies to deliver remote network access through plain old telephone service (POTS) and dial-up modems.

The Cyclades NL4000 is powered by an Intel 600MHz CPU and serves up to 128 simultaneous connections without delays. It supports up to 4 T1/E1 interfaces per rack unit (1U). Cyclades NL4000 is based on Open Source software and Linux. It has enhanced reliability by using 64MB CompactFlash instead of hard drives that have a higher failure rate.

The Cyclades NL4000 supports voice, fax and modem services, connects to a LAN using auto sensing 10/100BT Ethernet interfaces and terminates one or two T1/E1 or ISDN PRI lines. With built-in, V.92-ready digital modems and CSU functionality, it minimizes the need for external cabling and equipment.

In addition, Cyclades NL4000 provides security such as RADIUS, IP filtering and firewalling. It is managed through a graphical-based HTTP management console.

Pricing ranges from $2,350 for a base unit with open slots to $16,090 for 4 E1 and 128 DSP modems.
