BOISE, Idaho --- Extended Systems Inc. is taking a different approach to synchronizing wireless, portable information iAppliance to the databases maintained by individuals on their corporate PCs. Rather than synchronize to a users specific PC, itswill provide server-based synchronization capabilities for XML-based registry information model (RIM) devices.

The company's XTNDConnect Server provides a server-based replacement for RIM desktop synchronization software, reducing costs for desktop software and offering the benefits of centralized device management for RIM, Palm OS, PocketPC, SyncML and Symbian devices.

This initial release will provide RIM users with full cradle synchronization of Lotus Notes, contacts, and tasks, as well as reconciliation of email and calendar. A follow-on release late this summer will add wireless synchronization capabilities utilizing Extended Systems' AutoDelivery feature.

According to Don Baumgartner, Extended Systems' vice president of worldwide marketing, RIM support was added in response to customer demand from existing and potential corporate accounts.

XTNDConnect Server with support for RIM 850/857/950/957 devices will be available this June. List price is $95 per seat at 1000 seats or more. And AutoDelivery for email and calendar will be available late summer. For more information, go to http://www.extendedsystems.com.
