Scientific-Atlanta will combine a cable modem, router, and wireless access point into one device called the WebSTAR DPR362. The WebSTAR DPR362 cable modem gateway is being designed to allow the consumer or SOHO to connect multiple PCs, laptops, or other networked devices to share broadband access.

Scientific-Atlanta's WebSTAR DPR362 cable modem gateway will be based on DOCSIS 1.1 and will offer an integrated cable router with NAT (Network and Port Address Translation) and DHCP server. The cable modem gateway will provide simultaneous 802.11b wireless, HPNA 2.0, USB, and Ethernet connectivity. In addition, the cable modem gateway will include an internal firewall. The WebSTAR DPR362 is managed by WebWizard, a browser-based configuratio tool. The WebWizard will offer a simple user interface for either an installer or consumer to verify setup and troubleshoot operation.

The WebSTAR DPR362 cable modem gateway is expected to ship this summer.
