Belkin Introduces USB New Media Storage Peripherals

Belkin, debuts Universal Serial Bus (USB) 8-in-1 Media Reader & Writer and its USB Media Reader and Writer for Memory Stick. Perfect for instant file transfer to and from an appliance or a PC or Macintosh computer, the devices both offer Plug-and-Play installation and feature a tiny, lightweight footprint, which saves desktop space and positions for the most convenient use and access.

The Belkin USB 8-in-1 Media Reader & Writer works with CompactFlash I and II, SmartMedia, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, IBM Microdrive, Memory Stick, and MagicGate memory media. It allows users to transfer, edit, and store their files at transfer speeds up to 12Mbps-40 times faster than through a serial port. The Belkin USB 8-in-1 Media Reader & Writer draws power through the computer's USB port and requires no additional power supply. It features two slots that work with the eight different types of media and offers simple, drag-and-drop file transfer for the most efficient file management and backup.

The Belkin USB Media Reader & Writer for Memory Stick enables users to drag and drop files, images, and music to their computer from their digital camera, PDA, handheld, or MP3 player. Users can edit as necessary and then store all off their files on their computer. The Belkin USB Media Reader & Writer for Memory Stick offers transfer speeds up to 40 times faster than through a serial port. It powers through the computer's USB port, so there are no AC adapters, additional power supplies, or batteries. It also offers simple, drag-and-drop transfers for easy file management and backup.

Both units will feature photo-editing software from Ulead: Photo Express photo editor for PCs, which allows the user to share photos via e-mail, the Web, or print; Photo Explorerô for Macintosh computers, a digital solution for capturing, viewing, and editing images; and COOL 360, a powerful transformer of photo series into 360-degree or panoramic images

The Memory Stick version will be shipping in North America in June, while the 8-in-1 model is set to begin shipping in August. The expected retail prices for the Memory Stick is $24.99 and $44.95 for the 8-in-1 version.
