Toshiba e740 PocketPC Integrates 802.11b

Toshiba's Computer Systems Group introduces the wireless Toshiba Pocket PC e740. The new PDA integrates Wi-Fi 802.11b wireless connectivity. In addition to built-in wireless connectivity, the e740 comes with a 64K color display coupled with an Intel PXA250 XScale processor running at 400MHz. Expansion offerings include integrated CompactFlash II and Secure Digital (SD) media slots, an optional Toshiba Expansion Pack and High Capacity battery.

The silver Toshiba Pocket PC e740 with both CompactFlash II and SD expansion slots, if ready made for memory upgrades, Bluetooth connectivity and productivity add-on devices such as a global positioning system or a barcode reader.

Users also can take advantage of the optional Toshiba Expansion Pack, which attaches to the bottom of the e740 allowing customers to effortlessly conduct presentations via a monitor or projector with the integrated RGB monitor port in the Expansion Pack. The Toshiba Expansion Pack also integrates a USB port to connect to USB native devices such as a full-size keyboard.

For increased power and performance, an optional High Capacity battery is available that easily slides onto the back of the Toshiba Pocket PC e740, providing additional battery life. Both the High Capacity battery and Toshiba Expansion Pack can remain connected to the e740 while the device is in the cradle.

Toshiba Pocket PC e740 runs Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 software including Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket Internet Explorer, Microsoft ActiveSync and Windows Media Player for Pocket PC. Best suited for corporate users, security features of the operating system include the Virtual Private Network client access to protect sensitive data and e-mail communication through remote access. Additionally, mobile professionals can utilize Terminal Services Client to remotely access business applications on its company's server. The Toshiba Pocket PC e740 is competitively priced at $599 with a one-year standard limited parts and labor warranty.
