SunOne Studio Tools Deliver End-To-End Web Services SupportBy Bernard Cole Santa Clara, Ca. --- Indicative of the heightening competition in the Web Services market, Sun Microsystems Inc. is making its newest release of the SunOne Studio development tools for Java, formerly known as Forte for Java immediately for download from www.sun.com/software/sundev/jde. As an additional incentive for developers who own earlier releases of Forte[tm] for Java[tm], Enterprise Edition, or selected products from Borland, IBM, Microsoft or WebGain, Sun is offering a $995 to upgrade to Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java, about $1,000 off the full purchase price. The tool suite is available in three different profiles: Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition, with includes support for the Enterprise JavaBeans component development and deployment to multiple application servers; the mobile edition, for Java-enabled mobile devices running on the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME[tm]) architecture; and the community edition, for development from the client through the Web tier (JavaServer Pages/servlets). This new release is based on the latest version of the NetBeans open source platform, release 3.3.2. NetBeans 3.3.2 is focused on high performance, and offers a dramatic reduction in IDE start-up time and a smaller memory footprint. |
