Solidum PAX.ware 2500 Simplifies Gateway Designs

OTTAWA, Ontario --- Targeting the embedded networking infrastructure upon which all iappliance devices and systems travel, Solidum has introduced a new Pax.port classification processor evaluation system that will help accelerate designs in web switches/load balancers, multi-service switches, IP services gateways, cable modem termination systems, edge routers, and fixed broadband wireless access stations.

"This platform is designed to enable evaluation and testing of OC-48 classification and content inspection in content switches, content security devices, multi-service switches, edge routers and enterprise networking equipment," says Misha Nossik, Executive Vice-President and Founder, Solidum. It is an application specific standard product (ASSP) classification processor that can be used in a streaming architecture to achieve multi-Gigabit packet processing and classification. It is optimized for Layer 7 content inspection and classification at OC-48.

Classification processing on Solidum's PAX.port 2500 can be programmed using Solidum's PAX.works SDK, the leading development system for multi-field and regular expression classification processing. PAX.works provides complete programming and execution environments, including examples and templates for current networking protocols and encapsulations that make it possible for equipment designers to prototype, test, and debug complex classification to fit specific applications. It is based on Solidum's open, fourth generation PAX pattern description language (PDL).

The PAX.ware 2500 is the first in a series of evaluation systems Solidum plans to provide based on the PAX.port 2500. Future systems will be designed to work seamlessly with leading network processors, including the new Intel IXP2400 and IXP2800 network processors. Solidum announced complete classification processing support for the next generation of Intel network processors earlier this year.
