Prizm Technology, TOP-UP terminal that utilizes cellular GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) wireless technology to connect through carrier services to an IP network.

GPRS facilitates instant connections so transactions can be sent or received immediately. No dial-up modem connection is necessary. With maximum speeds of up to 171.2 kilobits per second, GPRS is about three times as fast as modem data transmission speeds.

GPRS' always on availability is a very important feature for time critical applications such as prepaid and remote credit card authorization where it would be unacceptable to keep the customer waiting for even thirty extra seconds. Prizm's TOP-UP terminal is designed to accept cash, credit, debit and smart cards as methods of payment. Housed in an industrial strength case with touch screen functionality, the TOP-UP terminal steps customers through simple actions to conduct prepaid wireless and Internet purchases that require no counter assisted point-of-sale activation.

The TOP-UP terminal provides retailers greater flexibility for positioning prepaid services anywhere in their store without restriction of wire line phone connection availability. This provides the consumer with better service with up to 3 times faster transaction processing.
