Nokia Adds To Its Line Of Security ProductsBy Michael Foley Nokia has added to its line of security appliances with the new IP350 and IP380 security appliances. The products are targeting small- to medium-sized offices and offer VPN, firewall, and intrusion protection features. The appliances come in a single rack unit enclosure. The IP350 and IP380 utilize Check Point Software Technologies' VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation. The IP350 and IP380 provide up to 400 Mbps and 600 Mbps of FireWall-1 throughput respectively. For VPN communications, the IP350 delivers 3DES VPN-1 throughput of 60 Mbps with its on-board encryption chip, while the IP380 can reach out-of-the-box VPN-1 throughput of 90 Mbps. Additionally, VPN-1 performance of up to 130 Mbps can be achieved on the Nokia IP380 with an optional Nokia encryption acceleration card. The security appliances have four Ethernet ports and two option slots for dual-port Ethernet or serial WAN cards. Both appliances include Nokia's IPSO operating system with virtual LAN (VLAN) capability, able to accept and generate 802.1q VLAN tagged packets. This functionality leverages the use of VLANs to segment departmental or divisional traffic through a common security infrastructure. The appliances are managed by the Nokia Horizon Manager 1.2. The Nokia IP350 and IP380 are currently available worldwide except Japan, where they will ship later this year. Link: |
