Venturcom's BXP Focus On Centralized Client Management

Cambridge, Ma.--- Venturcom, Inc., moving beyond its traditional focus on embedded Windows OS tools, training and consulting services, is now moving to place more emphasis on remote management, storage and security of client devices.

Its intial focus is BXP, which in many respects is an expansion of the capabilities of its BootNIC 1.0 released last year to provide support for Microsoft's XP and XP Embedded Operating Systems. To this the company has added enhancements for such things as image size limitation, dynamic write-back filtering, power management support, simplified installation and web-based product delivery and licensing.

It is an effort by the company to create a complete SoftSAN solution that allows system architects to build managed network bootable diskless configurations backed by an IP storage network built from existing computing and storage elements.

Because it does not require dedicated storage appliances, expensive IP/iSCSI host bus adapters, or proprietary BIOS extensions, the BSP software is transparent to the client - all local peripheral support remains intact. In addition, the company is adding support for iSCSI, necessary in the NAS and SAN markets.

The general release of the software is available now, with a September release for the iSCSI version of BXP.
