Celestix Offers Rack-mounted Security ApplianceBy Bernard Cole Fremont, Ca. -- Celestix Networks, Inc. has released company's first rackmounted appliance, the FV930, targeted specfically at security requirements of network attached systems. The FV930 integrates Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.'s VPN-1/FireWall-1/ Next Generation, and has undergone a rigorous testing process to be certified as a "Secured by Check Point" appliance. The FV930 features a backlit LCD panel (40 x 2 character) with an integrated dial control that allows the administrator to configure network parameters and begin securing the network within 15 minutes. The LCD also provides critical information and allows users to install security updates, or change the configuration of the appliance. FV930 can be managed locally via a standard web browser or centrally through Check Point's wide array of management software offerings. It is based the company's earlier Celestix 1U rack hardware platform, which features a maximum of 200 Mbps of firewall throughput and 120 Mbps of MD5/AES128 VPN throughput. It incorprates an Intel Pentium III class CPU running in excess of 1.2GHz, with 256MB of RAM and 20GB of hard drive. The FV930 has five auto-sensing 10/100-ethernet ports. In addition, it comes preloaded and preconfigured with Rainfinity's OPSEC high availability software, and Check Point's FloodGate-1, a scalable, quality of service software package.
