Net6 Replaces Wireless/Eenterprise Middleware

La Jolla, Ca. -- Net6 Inc.'s new Mobile Transformation Gateway has been designed to eliminate much of the middleware infrastructure that enterprises must traditionally deploy to allow wireless access to internal resources.

Previously, organizations needed to install and maintain expensive mobile middleware that required significant customization and ongoing maintenance. This has limited the ability for many businesses to take advantage of the growing proliferation of mobile devices as a means of delivering applications to enhance employee productivity, improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs.

The MTG resides within a corporate network and is powered by Net6's Sixth Sense software which is designed to transform applications to hundreds of devices without the need for complex customization to specific devices.

By moving this function into the network, the network becomes instantly "aware" of user devices and the applications, and takes on presentation layer functionality. Presentation is recognized as the sixth layer of the OSI applications model.

Using this functionality, Sixth Sense instantly transforms the full-screen application and adapts it to the screen characteristics of any device.

The MTG is a 1U board level appliance, which can be deployed within an organization's or service provider's network. It comes complete with Net6's Design Studio, a development tool that allows application customization for use on any wired or wireless device.

In order to support application transformation to future devices not yet developed, Net6 provides ongoing electronic updates to the MTG's Device Definition Files (DDFs) to support any existing or future devices or interfaces. DDFs, which are similar to device drivers used in PC's today, include the specific characteristics of each device and IP screen telephone. DDFs are supplied by Net6 and can also be created within hours by customers.

The Net6 MTG is available now.
