Devices such as set-top boxes, thin clients, Internet appliances, PDAs, and other mobile and wireless smart devices will become a bit "flashier" now that BSQUARE Corporation has announced it will port Macromedia Flash Player for use on Windows CE-based smart embedded devices. The company will distribute Macromedia Flash Player for viewing Flash content within the Microsoft Pocket Explorer.

BSQUARE is providing the software and hardware integration expertise to Macromedia under an exclusive contract. Both firms feel that numerous devices and applications will benefit from this technology, and the Macromedia Flash Player will enrich the user interface and educational and entertainment content in the next generation of information appliances.

With more than 96 percent of desktop users able to view Macromedia Flash content, the Macromedia Flash Player is the de facto standard on the Web. BSQUARE will package the Macromedia Player with its iWin Information Appliance Design Kit. The Macromedia Flash Player will join iWin's existing integration of the Windows Media Player, Ansyr Primer PDF Viewer, and Insignia Jeode Java JVM.
