Espial has launched a 100 percent Java application and service delivery platform for interactive digital television (iDTV). The combination of Espial DeviceTop Suite and Espial DeviceServer, the company's infrastructure software brings a complete client/server solution with interactive, Web-based performance features to the iDTV market.

Espial DeviceTop Suite works with Espial DeviceServer to create an open service delivery and management platform for service providers. With the addition of the recently released Espial Escape 4.7 embedded Java browser, DeviceTop Suite now includes a number of TV-specific features, including fit-to-screen width, remote control navigation, font-flooring, and zooming. With DeviceServer, the products form a service delivery platform that operates within a number of vertical market segments such as Internet appliances, TV, wireless, and automotive. Using this technology, different brands and high-end/low-end specified models of iDTVs can view the same content and applications consistently.

The Espial DeviceTop Suite includes the Espial DeviceTop operating environment, Espial Escape 4.7 embedded Java browser, Espial Ebox e-mail client, Espial Assistant personal information manager (PIM), and Espial Espresso GUI tool kit.

The iDTV-ready Espial DeviceTop suite and Espial DeviceServer are currently shipping. Free evaluation copies are available for download at www.espial.com.
