ABYAN Tools Build Wireless Web Sites(04/30/01, 07:25:01 AM EDT) ABYAN released its first software tool, the ABYAN Internet Development Environment (IDE). ABYAN IDE enables programmers to develop user-customized wired and wireless Internet sites that can support the limited user interfaces for Internet devices such as PCs, Palm Pilots, PocketPCs, and other Internet appliances. ABYAN IDE is a dynamic rendering engine and web development tool. Unlike traditional web development systems that are designed to build full web pages, ABYAN IDE programmers build virtual pages with modular, sub-page components that can be compiled like Lego blocks. These sub-page components, called Active WebCells, can be created, copied, or shared by non-technical end-users to build personal pages or group pages. With ABYAN IDE, data is dynamically transformed to the optimal display capability of each Internet device. Active WebCells can display nearly any type of Web accessible information that has been extracted from systems such as SQL, Oracle, and Exchange, including, text, links, video, applications, images, and other data. The modular structure allows distributed development and maintenance. ABYAN IDE sections the data structure into two main components, a hierarchal ACML database and the AIDEngine, which serves up the pages and cells. The technology preview of the standard edition is currently available for the Microsoft NT Operating System. It can be downloaded for free at www.abyan.com. A user support line is available at . ABYAN will release the Enterprise Edition later this year. Versions for Linux and Sun Microsystems' Solaris operating systems will be released in the future. |
