Lansonic Digital Audio Server (DAS-950 PRO)

The music lovers dream, the DAS-950 PRO adds to Lansonic's growing family of audio server appliances. The DAS-950 PRO is 3-zone audio system which can deliver digital audio to all three zones independent and simultaneously.  So while you  are relaxing to the symphony in the living room, your wife can be listening to country and western in kitchen and your kids listening heavy metal in the basement.  All this digital audio served from the web-ready ready, high fidelity, digital audio server, the DAS-950 PRO.

The unit comes available with internal storage capacities of of 60, 120 and 240 GB.  At 240GB it allows for storage of more than 2800 hours of compressed music.  Digital music can access, stored, or downloaded in variety of common audio formats including MP2 and MP3, WAV and DVSI's latest SonaPak.  SonaPak is particularly useful being a true lossless 2-1 compression.  At the heart of the DAS-950 is a 20-bit digital-to-analog converters from Crystal Semiconductor.  This is integrated with a "high-end" analog-circuit so the DAS-950 can deliver premium audio quality.

To help keep track of and organize all your digital music, the DAS-950 includes DVSI's MusicLoader. MusicLoader allows for automatic transfer, identification and sorting of music recorded from CDs or the Internet on the DAS-950.  MusicLoader also works with popular CD changers.  Using Cd changer bulk downloading of music to the unit is possible.   LANSONIC's CDID technology is on-board which automatically recognizes the album title, the artist, and the song title then displays this information on the unit's front panel LCD.

The DAS-950 PRO Series offers comes with a range of control and connectivity options. The unit supports: RS-232, a built-in web server, and IRDA.  It comes with a remote control which can do basic control (play, stop, pause, next, prev…..) but also select top ten favorite playlists.

One the best features of the DAS-950 PRO Series is that it can be controlled via an Ethernet connection using standard TCP/IP protocols. Over this connection the DAS-950 PRO hosts a command line interfaces and an internal web server. Using a PC you can browse onto the DAS-950 using popular web browsers such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.   The command line interface through the  RS-232 or Ethernet can be connected  to home controller and home theater systems.  Through simple ASCII text commands set these system can take control of your DAS-950. 

On the back of the DAS-950 PRO is a number of  audio connectors including direct S/PDIF digital connections, three channels of stereo analog and digital outputs, three stereo analog inputs.   Through these connectors, CD, tape, phonograph, receivers, equalizers, and CD changers can be connected to the DAS-950  

The DAS-950 PRO Series has been shipping since January 2002 and comes with hard-drive configurations of 60, 120 and 240 GB. Retail pricing is begins at $3995 for the 60 GB internal drive option.
